Includes letters to and about John M. Crawford from various officers in the company, most written from its Boston office. The earliest letters praise Crawford's abilities as a bookkeeper, letters from 1907 concern his appointment as mill agent, and letters from 1911 and 1917 notify him of raises in his salary. Some letters are written from the company treasurer's office by Henry S. Shaw to a Mr. Morton, company agent. Others are written to Crawford by W.T. [i.e. William T.] Dowling and Lawrence Mayo, clerk of the corporation.

Henry Hale Stevens purchased the former Merino Wool Factory in Webster, Mass. and converted it to linen manufacture in 1846. This factory had previously been owned by the Dudley Woolen Manufacturing Company, 1818-1846.
